You may be in a position where you may need to consider a different role at work or a career path that better supports your health situation. There are some training programs available free of charge and federal programs available for people with disabilities that are considering further education at a designated educational institutions. You will need to apply for these programs and may be asked to provide medical documentation using the application forms required by each program.
- Make a Change Canada offers an online Certificate Programs in Applied Web Development and Design that provides participants with the opportunity to build a fully functional e-commerce website over a six-month period.
- AnyCareer offers business and self-employment learning and coaching including a Business Abilities Stream which provides training and support to assess self-employment like researching a business idea and preparing a business plan.
- Neil Squire offers training programs like the Computer Comfort program and Digital JumpStart that provides basic instruction in using a computer, software tools and video platforms like Zoom and Teams.
- Canada Student Grant for Students with Permanent Disabilities is available for each year of study and is part of the application process for student aid in most provinces or territories. To qualify, you must be attending a designated educational institution. The grant amount received depends on several factors like family income, whether you have any dependents, and tuition fees and living expenses.
- Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Permanent Disabilities is available to pay for education-related services or equipment at a designated educational institution. You can apply as part of the application process for student aid, which is provided to students in financial need.
- epayment Assistance Plan for Borrowers with a Permanent Disability (RAP-PD) is available if you are having difficulty or are unable to make financial aid payments. Depending on your income, you may not be required to make payments that exceed your income by 20%.
